We’re now Relationship Works (the new name for Relate Avon) and part of TLC
We're now Relationship Works, the new name for Relate Avon. Building on 80 years of experience in relationship counselling, we've made a bold move to secure specialist, local support for our community for generations to come.
As part of this change, on 16 December 2025 we joined TLC: Talk Listen Change, a national relationships charity with decades of experience helping people across the country navigate crisis, abuse, and relationship breakdown. Their vision is a society where everyone is surrounded by a circle of safe, healthy, happy relationships.
This doesn’t change our counselling, but being part of TLC gives us access to a huge range of support and expertise while opening up new opportunities. We'll still be Relationship Works, but part of something bigger.
Why the change?
The changes follow our decision to chart a different path rather than join the national Relate's merger with Family Action, a larger multi-service organisation.
By joining TLC we're protecting the specialist, face-to-face relationship support that over 100,000 people across Bristol and Bath have relied on over eight decades - while securing the resources to sustain and grow these services.
By renaming as Relationship Works, we’re reflecting:
our focus on relationships of all kinds.

the belief that when we work together, lives change for the better.
Why this matters for the Bristol and Bath area
It's more than a name change. Joining TLC and the rebrand secures the long-term future of our highly valued relationship counselling, sex therapy and family counselling. The benefits for our clients and community include:

This allows us to protect face-to-face appointments alongside online, maintain our sliding-scale fees so we can support more people regardless of their finances, and continue making decisions based on local needs. Critically, we’re gaining access to the resources and expertise that will help us strengthen and grow our services.
