Relationship Counselling

Bristol, Bath, online

Working together for healthier relationships, happier lives

Relationship counselling for couples or individuals offers a confidential space to find your way forward - from rebuilding trust to improving communication or deepening your connections. Whether you’re own your own, married, living together, LGBTQIA+, non-monogamous, or anything in between. We’re here for all relationships, in all their forms.

What is Relationship Counselling?

Relationship counselling gives you a safe, confidential space to understand what's happening in your relationship and find ways to move forward.

Your counsellor helps you explore your story — what's not working, why it matters, and what you'd like to change. Together, you'll develop new insights, practical tools, and find the strength within yourself and your relationship to work through difficulties and strengthen your connection.

Couples counselling

In couples counselling (sometimes called couples therapy) you’ll learn how to communicate in new ways, work through problems together, and build skills to handle future challenges.

Relationship counselling for individuals

You don't need to be in a relationship to benefit from relationship counselling. Many people come alone to reflect on past or current relationships or to understand patterns that keep repeating.

Working with a counsellor helps you understand yourself better, break unhelpful cycles, and build healthier connections now and in the future.

How can Relationship Counselling help?

We’re here for you

Maybe you're caught in the same arguments, dealing with betrayal, or facing painful decisions. Perhaps things are going well and you want to strengthen your relationship before challenges arise. Or you're coming alone - to understand patterns, process a breakup, or reflect on your relationships.

Whatever brings you here, we honour your courage and we're committed to supporting you.

Book an appointment

What happens in Relationship Counselling?

After making an appointment, your first session is 50 minutes with a trained counsellor at our Bristol or Bath centre, or online. Your counsellor will take time to understand your relationship, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope to achieve.

If you're coming as a couple, you'll each have individual time with the counsellor. What you share in your time is confidential to you.

At the end, your counsellor will discuss how we can help and options for ongoing support. Some people meet once, while others continue for several weeks or months with ongoing sessions at 50 minutes each. It depends on what you need.

Counselling to help with separation

Counselling can help you process the tough emotions you might struggle to deal with, and bring the relationship to an end with as little pain or misunderstanding as possible.

Need practical support with arrangements?

Mediation might help, perhaps alongside counselling — we can discuss what's right for you.

Finding the right support

While we're here for many relationship challenges, there are times when emergency or other specialist support is a better fit, for example for those currently experiencing severe mental health issues, ongoing domestic abuse, or active addiction. You don't have to navigate this alone. We encourage those facing these circumstances to connect with one of these specialised support services.

How much does Relationship Counselling cost?

We are a charity and don't make a profit from the services we provide. We charge £68 for an initial assessment. The charge for ongoing counselling is agreed between you and your counsellor (or the administration team).

Reduced counselling fees: we aim to to support everybody who can benefit from our counselling irrespective of their ability to pay. As part of this, we offer reduced counselling fees which we fund from dedicated fundraising and from those clients able to pay higher fees.
