Consult a Counsellor

‍ A 20-minute online consultation: no pressure, no waiting list.

Consult a counsellor

Would you like couples counselling advice but aren't sure where to start, or whether counselling is even right for you? Our trained specialists are here to offer an online consultation, that’s affordable, convenient and confidential.

What is Consult a Counsellor?

An online session offering:

  • A focused, structured space to talk through what's been going on.

  • The chance to ask questions.

  • Help deciding what kind of support might be most helpful.

Whether you’re considering counselling for the first time or unsure which approach is right, this online session is designed to give you clarity and direction.

Online relationship support - start the conversation.

This is not relationship counselling, but a consultation. Think of it as your opportunity to talk to a counsellor online and start the conversation.

During the session, a counsellor will listen to your concerns, help you reflect on your current situation, and outline possible next steps, including whether couples counselling could be beneficial, and what that might look like.

There’s no judgment or pressure to continue. The aim is simply to help you feel more informed and supported in your decision-making.

Ready to take the first step?

Why choose a consultation

  • Total flexibility: Join online from wherever you are.

  • Zero commitment: This is a standalone consultation with no obligation to sign up for counselling unless you decide it’s right for you.

  • Speed: Skip the waiting list and speak to a specialist sooner.

  • Specialist and affordable: Benefit from 20 minutes with a counsellor for only £39.

How much does Consult a Counsellor cost?

The session is £39 for 20 minutes with a specialist. As Relationship Works is a charity, these fees directly fund the service and help us continue our work.

Who is this service for?

Consult a Counsellor is for people who are over 18 years old and living in the UK, who want to speak to a qualified counsellor about a relationship. Whether you're seeking couples counselling advice or individual relationship support, we are here for you - and for all relationships.

This service isn’t suitable for people suffering from severe mental health conditions, active self harm or where addiction is a significant factor. We’ve provided a list of organisations that could help in these circumstances.

  • The session will cost £39. Relationship Works is a charity and the costs we charge fund the service.

  • The session lasts 20 minutes.

  • The more notice you can give us the better. To cover our costs we unfortunately cannot refund the cost of appointments cancelled with less than 2 working days’ notice.

  • No. This is a consultation, not a counselling session. It's a chance to talk through what's going on, ask questions, and explore whether counselling might help — without any commitment to continue. Your counsellor will listen and help you think through your options.

  • Yes. You can attend on your own or with others who are part of the relationship you want to discuss.

  • Yes. Your conversation with the counsellor is confidential. As with all counselling services, there are limited exceptions to this where there is a serious risk of harm — your counsellor can explain these at the start of the session.

  • That's a completely valid outcome. The aim of the consultation is to help you feel more informed, whatever you decide. Your counsellor can also suggest other types of support if counselling doesn't feel like the right fit.
